Andrea Musumeci – Equivocal…Equivalence. Implementing Optimality in Translation Studies.

Based on the quest about how to narrow the gap between the academic and the professional field, the presentation will focus on the linking of Translation Studies to Optimality Theory and the consequent reformulation of the concept of equivalence. The analytical approach proposed resulted in the identification of a pattern, later developed into an evaluative instrument, which could be applied across the spectrum of translation varieties and language types.
